CLAREMONT, N.H. (AP) — A New Hampshire teacher's union has withdrawn its request that its School Board revert a high school back to a block schedule format.
An attorney for the Sugar River Education Association says the group decided that changing the schedule at Stevens High School in Claremont would not be in the best interest of its students. But the union is not withdrawing its unfair labor practice complaint.
Students are now taking eight courses for the entire year with classes meeting on alternating days. That schedule replaced a block schedule that had students taking four classes that met every day for one semester.
The Claremont teachers union has said the Board should have abided by an arbitrator's June 29 ruling that adopting the new schedule violated their Collective Bargaining Agreement.
