WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Republicans plan to stay their course toward a vote on a resolution of disapproval of the Iran nuclear deal, even as conservative House GOP members try to use a political maneuver to derail the deal. The House conservatives' strategy is seen as unlikely to succeed and any disapproval resolution faces a presidential veto. At that point, Senate Democrats have the votes to make the veto stick.

VIENNA (AP) — Austrian police say more than 3,000 migrants and refugees crossed into Austria overnight at the main border point with Hungary, with most choosing to continue on to Germany. In Denmark, police say they won't stop people coming in from Germany on their way to Sweden, Norway or Finland.

PHOENIX (AP) — Residents across the nation's sixth-largest city have been rattled by a spate of freeway shootings. There have been at least nine confirmed shootings in the Phoenix area the last two weeks and officials are investigating if a 10th yesterday is related. Meanwhile, electronic billboards flash a "shooting tips" hotline to freeway drivers. Some residents are using surface roads. Most of the shootings have been along Interstate 10 and no one has been seriously hurt.

TOKYO (AP) — Helicopters continue to buzz above a city north of Tokyo, looking for people stranded by flooding from heavy rain. Despite rescuing dozens of residents from the tops of their homes, rescue officials say they can't keep up with all the pleas for help. As heavy rain pummeled Japan for a second straight day today, with a river breaking through a flood berm, sending a wall of water into Joso.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — An online art auction begins today on eBay and most of the works are from artists that walk on all fours -- except for the cockroach. Creatures at the Oakland Zoo, including elephants, giraffes, goats -- and the cockroach, have produced colorful paintings that will be auctioned off for charity. Zoo spokeswoman Nicky Mora says keepers used only positive-reinforcement as they worked with the animals.
