BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Louisiana's Department of Education is seeking applications from school districts and charter schools seeking a share of $4 million in grants aimed at improving graduation rates for students with disabilities.
In a Wednesday news release, the department says the federal money is available for districts and charter schools serving high school students.
The amount awarded to each district or charter organization will be based on the quality of the individual application, the number of students to be helped by the money and the overall amount of money requested.
Purposes for the grant money include purchase of equipment to help students with disabilities prepare for careers, and establishment of partnerships with businesses to provide workplace experiences for such students.
