GLEN ELLYN, Ill. (AP) — Trustees of Illinois' largest community college have fired its top two finance officials after internal reports found weak controls and violations of the school's investment practices.
The Chicago Tribune reports (http://trib.in/1MbYntq ) the firings Wednesday of College of DuPage Treasurer Thomas Glaser and Controller Lynn Sapyta were the first among officials at the suburban Chicago school since a new majority took over the board of trustees in April.
The two had been on paid leave since June. College President Robert Breuder remains on paid administrative leave.
Glaser's attorney says he plans to sue the trustees on Glaser's behalf for wrongful termination and breach of contract.
Sapyta's attorney says the charges against her were unfounded, that she "faithfully discharged the duties of her office" and was being made a "scapegoat."
