LAS VEGAS (AP) — Casino mogul Steve Wynn says he and his staff are excited to host the first Democratic presidential debate of the campaign at the Wynn resort on the Las Vegas Strip.

CNN and the Democratic National Committee are scheduling the debate on Oct. 13. It's the first of six planned matchups.

Wynn issued a statement Wednesday noting that the more than 25,000 employees of his company are diverse in their personal and political backgrounds. He said being involved so closely in the political process by hosting the debate was a moment of great pride for the company.

Wynn owns the luxury high-rise Wynn Las Vegas and Encore resorts, as well as two hotel towers in Macau.
