SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — More people are dying on Utah's highways, a trend that started in 2014 after 12 years of declines.
KSL-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1MbGJGd) 109 people died on state highways from Memorial Day to Labor Day, 12 more than last year during a period known as the "100 Deadliest Days."
In total, 196 people have died on Utah roads this year, and 57 percent were not buckled in properly.
Highway patrol and transportation officials are concerned deaths have been trending upward. They say people need to wear seatbelts.
