HARRISON, N.J. (AP) — Jefferson Farfan converted a penalty kick in the 89th minute, giving Peru a 1-1 tie against Colombia in an exhibition Tuesday night.

Carlos Bacca, playing on his 29th birthday, put Colombia ahead in the 37th minute with his eighth international goal. He controlled the ball in the penalty area and flicked it past goalkeeper Pedro Gallese with a right-footed shot.

Farfan beat David Ospina with the penalty kick after he was pulled down by Kevin Balanta.

Colombia hosts Peru on Oct. 7 as South American qualifying for the 2018 World Cup opens.
