UNDATED (AP) — President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden both spent Labor Day in labor-friendly surroundings. The president was warmly greeted in Boston, while the vice president marched in a parade in Pittsburgh to chants of "Run, Joe, run."

ANTIOCH, Ill. (AP) — Several hundred police officers from around the country attended a funeral Monday in northern Illinois for Lt. Charles Joseph Gliniewicz. The veteran of the Fox Lake Police Department was shot while chasing three suspicious men on foot last week.

BROOKHAVEN, Miss. (AP) — A 4-year-old boy and his dog have been rescued from a well in Brookhaven, Mississippi. Rescuers had tried to hoist the boy up with a rope, but the youngster didn't know how to attach it. However, he was rescued hours later to the cheers of emergency workers.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota dentist who gained notoriety for killing a lion in Zimbabwe plans to return to his dental practice on Tuesday. In an interview with The Associated Press and the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Walter Palmer said he didn't know Cecil the lion was a treasured animal.

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — North and South Korea have agreed to hold reunions next month of families separated by the Korean War. The decision came after overnight talks among the Koreas' Red Cross officials at the border village of Panmunjom. The reunions are scheduled to take place at a North Korean resort.
