EDMOND, Okla. (AP) — School officials in Edmond have canceled classes at Edmond North High School following a weekend water main break.
Edmond Public Schools spokesperson Susan Parks Schlepp said Monday that classes for the school's 2,650 students will be canceled Tuesday. All evening activities and practices will be held.
Schlepp says a water main break Saturday night flooded 20 classrooms, the kitchen, the cafeteria, a few hallways and some offices. Schlepp says the principal issue is when water can be restored to restrooms at the school.
Two restoration companies and the district's custodial crew have been working throughout the long Labor Day weekend to clean up the mess. About 30,000 square feet — or 7 percent of the school building — was affected by the break.
The cause of the break remains unknown.
