FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) — The new University of Alaska president has a contract that includes a yearly performance bonus of up to $75,000.
Jim Johnsen was hired in July with a 5-year contract that includes an annual salary of $325,000. Fairbanks Daily News-Miner (http://ow.ly/RTMdm ) reports a bonus package proposal includes benchmarks for increasing alumni donations, boosting the number of Alaska Native graduates and cutting administrative costs.
That's among the nine goals that would contribute to his bonus. If all targets improve by 10 percent, Johnsen receives the maximum $75,000.
The Board of Regents has until Sept. 30 to approve the bonus plan.
Johnsen started as president at the beginning of the month. He replaces Pat Gamble, who retired after five years in the position.
