HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) — Marshall University is celebrating the opening of its sports medicine institute.

The Herald-Dispatch reports (http://bit.ly/1JOSXkn ) that about 200 people gathered Sunday for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Marshall Sports Medicine Institute.

Construction on the 20,000 square-foot building cost about $35 million.

The institute has five doctors' offices, a physical therapy area with an open floor plan and cardio equipment, among other things.

There's also an X-ray room with plans to add an MRI machine in the future.

There will be athletic training offices for four, with taping tables and stations related to therapy.
