RENO, Nev. (AP) — Nevada wildlife officials say a young black bear euthanized at Lake Tahoe last week had the same mother as two others they've had to put down because they lost their fear of humans. State wildlife biologist Carl Lackey is among those who've studied whether "bad" bear traits are inherited or learned. Most scientists agree now that older bears help teach cubs how to raid trash bins and break into homes. They say it's the kind of generational cycle that they will be hard pressed to break as long as garbage is in their reach.

YERINGTON, Nev. (AP) — The Nevada Highway Patrol says one person has been severely injured in a single-vehicle wreck in Lyon County. KRNV-TV in Reno reports that authorities say a vehicle carrying four people struck a telephone pole yesterday morning. One person was ejected and was airlifted to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. The NHP did not release the conditions of the three other people.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Police are searching for a man they say took off in a vehicle from a Reno car dealership. KOLO-TV in Reno reports that the suspect was last seen driving the stolen a car from the Jones West Ford Dealership on Saturday. Police have not yet released a description of the suspect. They are asking anyone with information to contact Reno police.

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — The Nevada National Guard held a 5K run to mark four years since some of their members were killed at a Carson City IHOP restaurant. Yesterday marked the anniversary of the incident. The 33-year-old gunman fatally shot himself after the shooting spree.
