METAIRIE, La. (AP) — The New Orleans Saints have claimed defensive end Obum Gwacham and linebacker Rich Mauti off of waivers.

The moves, announced by the club Sunday night, come a day after Gwacham was waived by Seattle and Mauti by Minnesota.

In corresponding moves, New Orleans cut veteran safety Kenny Phillips and defensive lineman Ashaad Mabry. Phillips has been trying to resurrect his career after missing the past two seasons with injuries. Mabry is an undrafted rookie.

New Orleans also has reached an injury settlement with Ronald Powell and waived the 2014 fifth-round draft choice.

Meanwhile, the Saints have signed seven practice squad players: Receivers Seantavius Jones and R.J. Harris; offensive linemen Sean Hickey and Cyril Lemon; tight end Chris Manhertz; fullback Toben Opurum; and cornerback Sammy Seamster
