JERUSALEM (AP) — Israel has begun building a fence along part of the country's eastern border with Jordan as Syrian civil war refugees and other migrants flee their countries. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says Israel has helped victims of Syria's civil war but the country is too small to take in refugees. Israel already has fences along its border with Egypt and in the Golan Heights bordering Syria.

HEGYESHALOM, Hungary (AP) — Thousands of people seeking a new life in Western Europe have been crossing from Hungary into Austria today. That's after Hungary abandoned visa checks, allowing migrants to board cross-border trains that were previously off limits. Yesterday Hungary sent thousands to the border aboard chartered buses.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — A violent weekend in North Carolina's largest city has police officers being called back from vacations and days off. Five people have been killed and five others hurt in a series of shootings. The dead include a 7-year-old boy shot in a front yard during a birthday party last night.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — One boater is dead, three injured and another missing after their dingy collided with a boat of the coast of California's Santa Catalina Island. The Coast Guard and Los Angeles County rescue crews are searching for the missing boater.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — Tom Brady says he's happy to be able to focus solely on football now that a federal judge has lifted his four-game suspension in the "Deflategate" controversy. In his first comments since the ruling on Thursday, Brady told reporters he had plenty of support during his legal fight over the suspension, and that helped him cope with the stress.
