LEWISBURG, Pa. (AP) — R.J. Nitti threw for 188 yards and ran in two touchdowns Saturday to lead Bucknell to a 17-0 win over Marist in the season opener for both teams.

Nitti, who completed 15 of 32 passes and had an interception, punched in the game's only TDs in the third quarter. He capped a 78-yard drive with a 4-yard plunge to score on the Bison's first drive of the second half and then scored again at the end of the quarter from the 1.

John Burdick put the Bison on the board with a 30-yard field goal in the first quarter but his 33-yard attempt with 6:52 to play was blocked. C.J. Williams ran for 131 yards on 31 carries for Bucknell, which piled up 371 total yards to win its fifth-straight season opener.

Marist was held to 161 total yards and converted just 1 of its 12 third downs.
