SMITHFIELD, R.I. (AP) — Dalton Easton threw for 122 yards and two touchdowns, and Ricardo McCray ran for 112 yards to lead Bryant past American International College 27-3 on Saturday in the season opener for both teams.
Easton connected with John Lavin for a 33-yard touchdown to give the Bulldogs a 7-0 lead in second quarter. He completed a 19-yard strike to Ryan Barrett for 14-0 advantage in the third.
Chris Boteler hit a 25-yard field goal to cut the Bulldogs' lead to 14-3 with 6 minutes left in the third. But Bryant's Aaron Dixon put the game out of reach when he returned an interception 47 yards for a touchdown with 43 seconds left in the third.
Bryant held AIC to 206 total yards.
American International College, a Division II school in the Northeast-10 Conference, has lost the last three games in the all-time series.
