OCEANPORT, N.J. (AP) — Strict Compliance wore down pacesetter Isabella Sings to post a nose-length victory in the $100,000 Boiling Springs Stakes at Monmouth Park Saturday.
Trained by Chad Brown, Strict Compliance ran 1 1/8 miles over the turf in 1:46 3/5. The Joe Bravo-ridden filly paid $5, $2.80 and $2.40 in winning her first graded stakes and for the fourth time.
Isabella Sings returned $5.60 and $3.60. Pine Needles finished three lengths back and was $3 to show.
"Going into the race, I thought I couldn't lose," Bravo said. "At the eighth pole I wasn't as sure, but when you ride for Chad Brown you know you're sitting on a good horse and this filly really kicked it in when it mattered."
