CAIRO (AP) — The White House says President Barack Obama has phoned the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi to express condolences for the death of 45 coalition troops from the United Arab Emirates. They were killed yesterday in a rebel missile strike on an ammunition depot in Yemen. It was the deadliest day for the UAE's military in the nation's 44-year history. A Saudi Arabian military spokesman revealed today that 10 Saudi troops were also killed in the attack.
UNDATED (AP) — Israel's opposition leader says his country should take in Syrian asylum seekers amid the current refugee crisis in Europe. Isaac Herzog said Saturday that "Jews cannot be apathetic" when hundreds of thousands of refugees are seeking safety. He said the Jewish people have suffered the world's silence before and cannot ignore the "murder and massacre" taking place in Syria.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Two people are dead and four others injured after a fire tore through a minibus following a collision in Las Vegas this morning. Fire officials say they found the burning minibus lying on its side on the sidewalk and a car was in the middle of the intersection. According to investigators, two people were unable to flee the bus and died at the scene. Four other passengers were taken to the hospital for burns.
FRESNO, Calif. (AP) — California's biggest wildfire this year is expected to spew smoke through the Labor Day weekend, leaving roads closed and some campgrounds empty. The fire burning in Kings Canyon National Park east of Fresno grew overnight to 134 square miles. It's 25 percent contained.
UNDATED (AP) — Just when it looked like Tim Tebow (TEE'-boh) was back in the NFL, he finds himself out of a job again. The Philadelphia Eagles have released the quarterback who was trying to make an NFL comeback after a two-year layoff. Only yesterday, it appeared Tebow would be the Eagles' No. 3 quarterback after the team traded Matt Barkley to Arizona. The moves come as NFL teams scramble to reduce their rosters ahead of a league deadline later today.
