ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — Georgia's game against Louisiana Monroe has been suspended midway through the third quarter due to lightning in the area.

With No. 9 Georgia leading 35-14, officials announced lightning was detected within 15 miles of Sanford Stadium. There had been no rain during the game.

Players left each sideline and fans were informed they were free to leave the stadium and could return when play is resumed. Some fans remained in their seats.
