TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (AP) — A former Utah Jazz dancer has been sentenced to 30 days in jail for having sex with a 17-year-old student of her dance studio.
The Deseret News reports (http://bit.ly/1EHwrL5 ) that 33-year-old Amber Telford was sentenced Thursday after pleading guilty in July to one count of unlawful sexual activity with a minor.
In exchange for the guilty plea, prosecutors dismissed six other identical charges.
Telford is the former owner of Colette's Dancing Studio in Taylorsville. She was arrested and charged in January.
Police say she had sex with the 17-year-old boy from September to December 2014.
The relationship was discovered in November by a private detective hired by Telford's estranged husband. She filed for divorce in September, around the same time the illegal activity began.
