BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) — A fleet of Hungarian buses brought thousands of migrants early today to the border of Austria. There, the migrants were offered beds, hot tea and a warm welcome by charity workers. Austria and Germany made the breakthrough possible by announcing they would take responsibility for the migrants.
GRAYSON, Ky. (AP) — Rowan County, Kentucky, Clerk Kim Davis will be spending this Labor Day weekend in jail. Meanwhile, at least three same-sex couples will be planning their weddings after finally receiving the marriage licenses they'd been previously denied. Davis believes gay marriage is a sin, a position that got her jailed for contempt of court.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Police in California are still seeking the gunman in a shooting on a Sacramento college campus. But they've arrested one of the injured victims on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. One other 25-year-old man was killed and a third man was hospitalized but is expected to survive.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — California lawmakers have said "yes" to a "Yes means Yes" bill and sent it to Gov. Jerry Brown for his signature. Supporters of the measure say it will make California the first to bring sexual assault prevention training to high schools.
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Police say a kite surfer at a San Francisco beach was critically hurt after being caught in a huge gust of wind and dragged across a parking lot onto a highway, where he was hit by a car. Winds of about 35 mph with gusts approach 50 were blowing on the beach at the time.
