LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities are searching for a man after a Las Vegas police officer was shot in the leg with a high-powered firearm. Police say two officers were responding to a prowler call in western Las Vegas about 4 a.m. today when they encountered two people. Sheriff Joe Lombardo said the suspects opened fire and police shot back. The officer's injury is not life-threatening. One suspect who was bitten by a K9 unit was also hospitalized.

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Carson City deputies are offering a $2,000 reward for information about who placed an incendiary device near a judge's home this spring. Sheriff Kenny Furlong said multiple law enforcement agencies have been investigating since the burning object was placed at Justice of the Peace John Tatro's home early on May 13. Tatro also received an ominous Christmas card in December that included the message, "You will die." Someone shot at his home in December 2012, but nobody was injured.

FORT STEWART, Ga. (AP) — A solider has been charged in the shooting death of a Nevada soldier at a home in southeastern Georgia. WSAV-TV reports that Peter Petri has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and reckless conduct in the death of Spec. Hunter Kelly of Sparks last weekend. Kelly was a cavalry scout and entered active duty in 2013.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Catherine Cortez Masto has come out in favor of the nuclear agreement with Iran. The former Nevada attorney general announced her position yesterday, after what she described as countless hours talking with experts and reading opinions about the deal. Masto's position is opposite of her Republican opponent Rep. Joe Heck, who said he does not support the deal.
