MOREHEAD, Ky. (AP) — Dozen of protesters have gathered outside a Kentucky clerk's office where a gay couple has been issued a marriage license after a lengthy fight with a clerk who had refused to grant one. One group cheered on the gay couple who got the license, while the other group preached and supported the clerk. Rowan (ROW'-uhn) County Clerk Kim Davis remains jailed after a federal judge held her in contempt for defying several court orders. Her husband says she doesn't plan to resign and will not issue the licenses.

UNDATED (AP) — Migrants trying to reach Europe are continuing to risk death. Authorities in northern Greece say a refugee from Syria has been killed by a train while walking along the tracks in the dark after entering from Turkey. Slovak police say a small truck with 23 refugees from Syria on the way from Hungary to Germany was involved in a fatal crash today -- but all of the refugees survived.

NEW YORK (AP) — After two days of gains, stocks are lower this morning as investors look over the last report on the U.S. job market. Unemployment fell to a seven-year low in August, even though employers only added a modest 173,000 jobs. The report will be a key factor as Federal Reserve officials decide whether to start raising interest rates.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Another former aide to Hillary Rodham Clinton is being questioned today by a House panel investigating the deadly attacks in Benghazi, Libya. Jake Sullivan is a former policy director and deputy chief of staff at the State Department. He arrived this morning for what is expected to be a day-long session. The panel interviewed former Clinton chief of staff Cheryl Mills for more than nine hours yesterday.

ST. LOUIS (AP) — St. Louis County police say an 11-year-old boy fatally shot a 16-year-old intruder during a home invasion, but some neighbors say they don't believe that account. When officers responded to a report of a shooting yesterday, they found the 16-year-old dead inside the home. Police say they believe he was shot after a break-in. But some neighbors told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that they saw the shooting and there was no break-in. Police are asking anyone with information to come forward. The 11-year-old and his 4-year-old sister were not hurt. The children's mother wasn't home at the time but is cooperating with an investigation.
