WICKENBURG, Ariz. (AP) — Sheriff's detectives have seized about 6 ½ pounds of meth off a bus that was bound for Las Vegas from Arizona. Sheriff's officials say that after the bus was stopped on U.S. 60 for speeding, a narcotics dog alerted deputies to a storage compartment under the passenger area. Authorities opened a duffel bag and found six individually wrapped bundles hidden in the base. Nobody claimed the duffel bag. The driver and all the passengers were released and continued their trip to Nevada.
CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — The Nevada Supreme Court is weighing whether a campaign ad defamed a state senator. The Nevada Appeal reports that the court heard oral arguments Wednesday in State Sen. Ben Kieckhefer's suit, which was filed against Republican challenger Gary Schmidt during the June 2014 primary race. Kieckhefer said Schmidt falsely claimed in an ad that Kieckhefer endorsed Democratic U.S. Sen. Harry Reid's 2010 re-election bid.
