TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) — An 86-year-old man has been indicted for first-degree murder in connection to the fatal shooting of a woman in Twin Falls.
The Times-News reports (http://bit.ly/1fYHzax ) a Twin Falls County Court grand jury indicted Paul Robert Welch Wednesday. He was scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing Friday, but with the new indictment the hearing is cancelled. He is scheduled to be arraigned in district court Tuesday.
According to court documents, 81-year-old Barbara Sue Chitwood was found dead from gunshots to her head at her home Aug. 21. Detectives say Welch was the only other person in the house at the time of the shooting.
If convicted, Welch faces a minimum of 10 years in prison.
