BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) — Dakota Prukop threw for two touchdowns and ran for another as Montana State opened the season with a win, beating Fort Lewis 45-14 on Thursday night.
Prukop scampered in from five yards out with nine seconds left in the half, then connected with Mitchell Herbert on the first possession of the second half and the Bobcats led 21-0. Chad Newell had opened the scoring for MSU with a one-yard plunge with 4:24 to go in the half.
The Skyhawks got on the board when Jordan Doyle found Juquelle Thompson from 23 yards to cap off a 67-yard drive late in the third quarter and cut the lead to 21-7.
MSU would quickly answer when Prukop hit Justin Paige for 46 yards and then found Herbert from the seven. Prukop finished with 69 yards rushing and 197 passing.
The Division II Skyhawks were held to 279 yards in total offense.
