GLEN CANYON NATIONAL RECREATION AREA, Utah (AP) -- A 23-year-old Arizona man who entered a river to help struggling swimmers is missing in southeastern Utah.

Authorities say Benjamin Saltwater of Kayenta, Ariz., is presumed drowned. He was last seen Wednesday in the San Juan River, near the Navajo Reservation, within the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.

Glen Canyon officials say Saltwater entered the river about 6 p.m. and did not resurface. Four people were able to return to shore.

It's not known whether Saltwater was wearing a life jacket.
