LAS VEGAS (AP) — Trial has been reset to Dec. 7 for a 22-year-old Henderson man facing felony charges that could get him up to 40 years in prison in a high-speed crash that killed two teenage women in Las Vegas. Prosecutors say Seong Mo Lee's blood-alcohol count was more than twice the legal limit when the Mercedes he was driving 117-mph in a 45-mph zone slammed into a Nissan Versa early March 5 on Boulder Highway, killing the two women.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Clark County Zoning Commission is reconsidering a permit application that could reopen an unaccredited zoo in Moapa. The Las Vegas Sun reports that the commissioners voted unanimously yesterday to reconsider Roos-n-More's application for special use permits, which it denied last month. The vote means the zoo's monkeys, otters, kangaroos, porcupines and more can stay on the 9-acre property owned.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Wynn Las Vegas says its resident DJ Avicii (ah-VEE-chee) is cancelling the remainder of his shows at XS and Encore Beach Club this year to take a break. The resort-casino on the Las Vegas Strip says DJs Diplo, Skrillex, Dillon Francis and Zedd would replace Avicii at six scheduled shows this month and next.
BOSTON (AP) — New billboards in Las Vegas and several other large cities proclaim what their Muslim backers say is the true message of Islam: peace and justice, not extremism and violent jihad. The New York-based Islamic Circle of North America has erected 100 new billboards after violent attacks by Islamic radicals, which they denounce as abusing Muhammad's teachings.
