WASHINGTON (AP) — The White House has scored a major legislative victory. Enough Senate Democrats now favor the Iran nuclear agreement that a GOP opposition resolution can be vetoed without an override. In the House, Maryland Democrat Barbara Mikulski, who is retiring next year, has signed on, giving supporters the necessary 34 votes. And House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi says she has the votes to back up an Obama veto.

KOTZEBUE, Alaska (AP) — It's an historic visit. President Barack Obama has traveled to the Alaska town of Kotzebue (KAHTS'-uh-boo), which is north of the Arctic Circle. Obama's trip, the first by a sitting president to the Arctic, is to showcase the havoc he says human-influenced climate change is wreaking on Alaska's delicate landscape.

NEW YORK (AP) — The stock market has made up a chunk of the ground it has lost in recent sessions due to worries about slowing growth in China and uncertainty over when the Federal Reserve will begin raising interest rates. The Dow added 293 points today.

MILLIS, Mass. (AP) — A suburban Boston police cruiser has been hit by gunfire, crashed and caught on fire. Officers from several towns are looking for the man who shot at the Millis Police Department squad car. A state police spokesman says the cruiser crashed into a tree and ignited. The officer wasn't seriously injured. The suspect is said to be a white male in a dark pickup.

CRANFORD, N.J. (AP) — Officials at a New Jersey day care center are apologizing to parents after two workers were accused of instigating scuffles among the young children as part of a "Fight Club." Two workers, who were fired, are accused of instigating fights among children ages 4 to 6. They say one of the workers recorded video of the fights and shared the clips with several friends on social media.
