LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas police say a 25-year-old man killed by an officer last weekend was turning with a gun in his hand toward the officer when he was shot. LAS VEGAS (AP) — Street performers are expressing concerns about Las Vegas' effort to tame the often rowdy gauntlet of downtown entertainers. The city is considering an ordinance that would establish performance zones along Fremont Street. Performers who spoke at a council meeting today said it would push them out, violate their rights to free speech or didn't do enough to curb a chaotic, competitive environment.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Interior Secretary Sally Jewell led a delegation of schoolchildren to Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area outside Las Vegas today to highlight a federal "Every Kid in a Park" campaign. The Obama administration is offering free family passes to more than 2,000 federally managed parks and conservation areas through next September.
