NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) — North Las Vegas police say media reports led to the identification and arrest of a 37-year-old man believed to have recorded his own face while placing a hidden camera in the bathroom of a clothing store.
Officer Aaron Patty said Eduardo Rafael Chavez was arrested Tuesday.
Records showed Chavez was booked into Las Vegas City Jail pending an initial court appearance on a gross misdemeanor peeping charge. The alleged crime is called capturing images of the private area of another person.
Police say an employee found the camera hidden in a restroom of the business last week at a mall near Martin Luther King Boulevard and Craig Road.
Police on Tuesday circulated the facial image and store security video showing a man wearing black eyeglasses at the time.
