BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) — A widening crisis involving migrants in Europe intensified today as hundreds of people stranded outside Budapest's main international train station chanted defiant slogans. Hungarian police blocked the migrants, mostly Syrians, who've been arriving from Serbia, for a second day. They have been seeking asylum in Germany and other European Union countries to the west. .
BANGKOK (AP) — A Thai court has issued an arrest warrant for a Turkish man who is the husband of a Thai suspect already being sought in connection with Bangkok's deadly bombing. Today's arrest warrant — charging a man with conspiracy to possess unauthorized war materials — is the eighth issued by Thai authorities in connection with the Aug. 17 bombing of a central Bangkok shrine. Twenty people were killed and more than 120 were wounded in the attack.
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — President Barack Obama's historic tour of Alaska ends today with a speech drawing attention to the plight of Alaska Natives who live with hardship in more than 200 far-flung villages in the Alaska Arctic. The president also has used the trip to emphasize once more his concern that many Americans aren't taking climate change seriously.
BALTIMORE (AP) — A court hearing is set in Baltimore later today in connection with six police officers who have been criminally charged in the death of Freddie Gray, a black man who died a week after suffering a critical spinal injury in custody. Among the issues to be argued by prosecutors and defense attorneys are whether the officers should be tried together or separately and whether the case should be dismissed.
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The oldest survivor of the Great San Francisco Earthquake of 1906 has died. Ruth Newman was 5-years-old when the quake struck the early morning of April 18, 1906. Her daughter, Beverly Dobbs, says her mother died on July 29 in her home in Pebble Beach, California. She was 113.
