GREELEY, Colo. (AP) — Weld County residents who want to pursue higher education will be able to do so with $3,000 from the county beginning in 2016.
The Greeley Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1IHyhGN ) that County Commissioners announced Tuesday that nearly all of Weld County high school graduates, GED recipients and honorably discharged veterans qualify for the Weld County Bright Futures grant program by simply filling out a form.
Through the program, recipients can receive $3,000 per year for up to a maximum of $12,000 for four years to attend any post-secondary education, including private, public, in- or out-of-state colleges, trade schools and professional programs.
To fund the program, donors will give money to the grant trust fund program, of which the county will return 50 percent in the form of a property tax rebate.
