NORTHFIELD, Vt. (AP) — Officials at Norwich University are touting the renovation and expansion of the school's Kreitzberg Library on its Northfield campus.

A ceremonial ribbon cutting for the $6.8 million project was held Tuesday.

The library at the Vermont college has new workstations, group-study and collaborative-learning areas, new technology-enabled classrooms and a café. There is also a 77-percent increase in seats and a 10-fold increase in data speeds.

The library renovation was the first project completed as part of a fundraising campaign that aims to raise $100 million by the school's bicentennial in 2019. So far the campaign has raised almost $68 million.

Construction on the project began in December.
