MONTGOMERY, W.Va. (AP) — West Virginia University President E. Gordon Gee is proposing shuttering of the WVU Institute of Technology campus in Montgomery in two years and moving the school to Beckley.

Media reports say Gee will make the recommendation Tuesday to WVU's Board of Governors.

Gee reportedly met Monday with WVU Tech faculty and staff and outlined the proposal. A spokeswoman said the meeting was closed and WVU Tech would have no further comment.

Fayette County Commissioner Matt Wender said the move will be a blow for Montgomery.

Gee will outline the plan at a special meeting of the governing board in Morgantown.
