SANTA FE, Texas (AP) — Vandals using heavy-duty construction equipment have damaged the track, a play clock and an athletics fence at a Southeast Texas school.

The Galveston County Daily News (http://bit.ly/1Js07IX ) reported Monday that police are looking for those responsible to damage at Santa Fe High School.

The athletic director of the Santa Fe Independent School District says the vandalism happened between late Friday and Saturday morning. Mark Kanipes says vandals used a forklift-like piece of construction equipment to damage the field site, plus a bathroom.

Officials had no immediate damage estimate.

Santa Fe's football field, which is being converted into turf, was not damaged. Santa Fe's first home football game, on Sept. 11 vs. St. Thomas, is expected to go on as planned.
