SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah state health officials are sounding the alarm about a disturbing uptick of e-cigarette use among high school students. A new state report on tobacco use will be unveiled today at a news conference.
HERRIMAN, Utah (AP) — Police say a Herriman man is dead after being beaten by his girlfriend's brother. KSL-TV reports that Unified police say 25-year-old Blake Burningham and his girlfriend had a verbal fight Saturday night that escalated into a fight with the woman's brother, 24-year-old Cole Pedersen. Police were investigating Pedersen for aggravated assault but say they are looking at new charges following Burningham's death.
ELKO, Nev. (AP) — Authorities in Nevada say they have found the body of a Colorado man who went missing three years ago while riding an Amtrak train home. The Elko Daily Free Press reports that sheriff's deputies say the remains of Robin Putnam were discovered last week and have been positively identified. His parents hired private investigators and also searched Salt Lake City, where Putnam was reportedly last seen.
HELENA, Mont. (AP) — The Montana attorney general's office won't investigate fraud claims against a Utah lawmaker leading a push for western states to take control of federal lands. A spokesman says the office found no grounds for investigating Republican Rep. Ken Ivory. Ivory's American Lands Council raises money by offering memberships to counties that cost up to $25,000 a year.
