NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) — Police say a woman was sexually assaulted near the Rutgers University New Brunswick campus.

The woman, who is affiliated with the school, told police she was approached by a man in the area of Richardson and Wyckoff streets early Sunday. The woman told police the man followed her into a yard and she was assaulted.

The woman was treated and released at a hospital.

New Brunswick police are investigating.

City and college police say they will increase patrols around the university. They say officers will be "visible and active" near the school and surrounding areas.
