KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii (AP) — Residents of Hawaii are calmly awaiting Ignacio as the Category 3 hurricane comes closer to the Big Island and Maui, which are under a tropical storm watch. Forecasters say Ignacio is on a weakening trend. High winds, heavy rain and ocean swells are expected to hit the Big Island Monday night and Maui on Tuesday.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Secretary of State John Kerry says history will not look kindly on the climate change skeptics who fail to take action to curb warming. Speaking Sunday in Anchorage, Alaska, Kerry says scientists are overwhelmingly unified in the conclusion that humans are contributing to global climate change and that steps must be taken to reduce carbon in the atmosphere.

WASHINGTON (AP) —The name of North America's tallest mountain peak is being changed from Mount McKinley to Denali. The White House says the Interior Department has the authority to do so. Alaskans have informally called it Denali for years. It means "the high one." It's a symbolic gesture to Alaska Natives as President Barack Obama's begins his historic visit to Alaska on Monday.

HOUSTON (AP) — Thirty-year-old Shannon Miles will be arraigned Monday on capital murder charges in the fatal shooting of veteran Harris County Sheriff's Deputy Darren Goforth at a suburban Houston gas station. Miles allegedly ambushed the uniformed deputy as he was putting gas in his cruiser Friday evening. Sheriff Ron Hickman says the attack was "clearly unprovoked."

LOS ANGELES (AP) — One of the most recognizable names in horror films has died. Wes Craven was 76. The prolific writer, director and editor is credited with reinventing the teen horror genre with the 1984 release of "A Nightmare on Elm Street," starring a then-unknown Johnny Depp. Craven's family says he died in his Los Angeles home Sunday after battling brain cancer.
