MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Maya Moore scored 28 points and Sylvia Fowles added 14 points and 13 rebounds to help the Minnesota Lynx beat the Phoenix Mercury 71-61 on Sunday night.

Renee Montgomery had 15 points for the Lynx (20-10), who now lead Phoenix by three games in the Western Conference.

Minnesota, which was 2-of-10 shooting to open the game and missed 11 straight shots in the second quarter, started the second half with a 10-2 run, including a 3-point play by Fowles that gave the Lynx their first lead of the game, 41-39.

A jumper by Moore with 2:53 to play gave capped a 16-4 spurt and made it 66-56 — the Lynx's biggest lead of the game.

It wasn't all good news for the Lynx, who lost point guard Lindsay Whalen in the second quarter due to lingering bursitis in her right heel and Achilles soreness. She'll be evaluated by doctors on Monday.

DeWanna Bonner scored 15 points, Candice Dupree added 14 and Brittney Griner 13 for Phoenix (17-13). Griner also grabbed seven rebounds and blocked a season-high nine shots, the most in the WNBA this season.
