CHICAGO (AP) — Forward Andrew Wooten is getting his first call-up to the U.S. national team for the exhibition against Peru, with Clint Dempsey and Michael Bradley staying with their Major League Soccer teams.

Injured defenders Fabian Johnson and DaMarcus Beasley were not on the 23-man roster released Sunday for Friday's game in Washington.

Midfielder Jermaine Jones and defenders Geoff Cameron and Matt Besler, part of last year's World Cup team, are on the roster after not playing in this summer's Gold Cup.

Also back is 22-year-old forward Bobby Wood, who scored the late winning goals in exhibitions against the Netherlands and Germany in June.

Dempsey and Bradley will rejoin the team before the exhibition against Brazil in Foxborough, Massachusetts, on Sept. 8.

Coach Jurgen Klinsmann will use the exhibitions to decide his roster for the playoff against Mexico on Oct. 10 that will determine CONCACAF's representative at the 2017 Confederations Cup.

The U.S. Soccer Federation had previously announced that goalkeeper Tim Howard had returned to the roster after taking a year off following the World Cup.

The 25-year-old, German-born Wooten has five goals in five matches in Germany's second-tier league.

The roster:

Goalkeepers: Brad Guzan (Aston Villa), Tim Howard (Everton), William Yarbrough (Club Leon)

Defenders: Ventura Alvarado (Club America), Matt Besler (Sporting Kansas City), John Brooks (Hertha Berlin), Geoff Cameron (Stoke City), Greg Garza (Atlas), Omar Gonzalez (LA Galaxy), Michael Orozco (Club Tijuana), Tim Ream (Fulham)

Midfielders: Alejandro Bedoya (Nantes), Joe Corona (Veracruz), Mix Diskerud (New York City FC), Jermaine Jones (New England Revolution), Alfredo Morales (FC Ingolstadt), Danny Williams (Reading), DeAndre Yedlin (Tottenham Hotspur)

Forwards: Jozy Altidore (Toronto FC), Aron Johannsson (Werder Bremen), Bobby Wood (Union Berlin), Andrew Wooten (SV Sandhausen), Gyasi Zardes (LA Galaxy)
