MIAMI (AP) — Backup center J.D. Walton has been released by the Miami Dolphins, an indication center Mike Pouncey's left knee injury isn't serious.
Walton, who started every game for the New York Giants last year, was one of 11 players released Sunday. He entered Saturday's exhibition game against Atlanta when Pouncey hurt his knee.
Pouncey said after the game he didn't expect the injury to prevent him from playing in the season opener in two weeks. Sam Brenner will be Pouncey's backup.
Among other players cut by Miami was Gerell Robinson, who was contending for a roster spot as the third tight end.
