SALT LAKE CITY — The remains of a Colorado man missing since 2012 have been found in eastern Nevada.

Police in Elko County were able to make positive identification of Robin Putnam's remains, and his family announced the finding on their Facebook page Friday night.

Putnam, who was 23 when he disappeared, last seen in July 2012 getting off an Amtrak train in downtown Salt Lake City. Police say his body was found in a remote area near railroad tracks about 15 miles outside of Wells, Nevada.

Putnam's parents, who live in Telluride, Colorado, reported their son missing after he failed to return home. They even came to Utah several times hoping to find their him.

The cause of Putnam's death is under investigation, but no foul play was immediately suspected.
