REMSEN, Iowa (AP) — A former Remsen-Union Community School District teacher has been arrested, accused of having a sexual relationship with a student while she was a teacher there.
The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports (http://bit.ly/1i9T6Wm ) that the Remsen Police Department and Plymouth County Sheriff's Office began a joint investigation in the case in April and believe that 24-year-old Samantha Maelee Kohls, of Cedar Falls, had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old male student while Kohls was a teacher at the school.
Police say arrest warrants for Kohls were issued, and she turned herself in on Thursday. She is charged with two counts of a school employee engaging in sexual conduct with a student, aggravated misdemeanors.
A phone message left Saturday at a home listing for a Samantha Kohls was not immediately returned.
