NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) — Las Vegas police are investigating an incident in which an armed suspect was shot and killed by officers after he ran from police.

Authorities say officers responded around 3:15 a.m. to a report of a larceny at a business.

They say the victim identified a suspect vehicle and officers stopped a car on the Cheyenne overpass at Interstate 15 in North Las Vegas.

According to investigators, two men in the car were taken into custody but a third ran.

Officers attempted to use a Taser but it was ineffective.

Police say the suspect then allegedly turned toward an officer and pointed a handgun. The officer fired multiple times, striking him.

The suspect was pronounced dead at the hospital.

His body has been turned over to the Clark County Coroner's Office.
