CLAREMONT, N.H. (AP) — A New Hampshire teacher's union has filed an unfair labor practice complaint against the Claremont School Board over a new high school schedule.
The Valley News reports (http://bit.ly/1PXzfVJ ) Stevens High School teachers now have six classes that are taught over the entire year and meet on alternating days. They previously had three classes taught each semester that met every day.
The Sugar River Education Association's complaint says the board should have to abide by an arbitrator's June 29 ruling that adopting the new schedule violated their Collective Bargaining Agreement.
School Board officials said in July they believe the arbitrator was wrong and the Board voted in favor of implementing the new schedule.
Union officials say faculty voted overwhelmingly against the schedule because it puts too much burden upon the students.
