BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — The East Baton Rouge Parish School Board, whose nine members took office in January, is holding its first retreat.

The Advocate reports (http://bit.ly/1KdIlih) Saturday's retreat also will be the board's first one with new Superintendent Warren Drake, who took over the state's second-largest school system on June 1. Drake and his staff plan to lay out in detail the progress so far on the 100 Day Plan he issued when he started, as well as lay out plans for the future.

Retreats are less formal public gatherings where public officials plan for the future for at least a day.

The previous 11-member School Board held only two retreats between 2011 and 2014, once soon after taking office and a second time in October 2013.
