LAS VEGAS (AP) — A hospital spokeswoman has confirmed that two men found unresponsive in The Venetian resort-casino's gondola ride canal earlier this week are no longer in critical condition. Erica Nansen with the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada confirms that one man was in stable condition and the other was discharged.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Caesars Entertainment Corp. can breathe a bit easier after a New York federal judge denied the company's bondholders a quick judgment in their pursuit for nearly $7 billion they say they're owed. The ruling doesn't stop the case from proceeding against the casino giant. The judge says the creditors did not offer enough proof at this stage that the federal Trust Indenture Act was violated.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — The Washoe County Medical Examiner says a Carson City deputy and a suspect he confronted died of each other's gunfire. Dr. Laura Knight released preliminary autopsy results for Jonathan Pope and Deputy Carl Howell, who both died after a confrontation in Carson City on Aug. 15. Police say 35-year-old Howell was responding to a report of domestic violence when he encountered the 30-year-old armed suspect.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Celine Dion makes her Las Vegas return after having spent more than a year caring for her ailing husband Rene Angelil. The Canadian singer has said it was Angelil who urged her to return to her residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. Dion is scheduled to perform 40 shows through Jan. 17.
