PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Daniel Murphy's two-run opposite field double keyed a four-run uprising in the 13th inning as the New York Mets rallied from a 5-0 deficit to beat the Philadelphia Phillies 9-5 last night. That's the Mets' seventh straight victory that maintains their six and a-half game lead over Washington in the NL East.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — San Francisco rookie Kelly Tomlinson hit a grand slam for his first career home run and Marlon Byrd added a three-run shot in helping Madison Bumgarner and the Giants beat the Chicago Cubs 9-1. The win moved the Giants within 5 and a-half games of the Cubs for the second NL wild-card spot. Bumgarner is 16-6 after striking out 12 in six innings.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) —The Baltimore Orioles lost to AL Central-leading Kansas City 5-3 and may have lost the services of Adam Jones. The Orioles centerfielder ran into the wall at Kauffman Stadium and was to be re-evaluated before tonight's series opener in Texas.

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina State has suspended rushing leader Shadrach Thornton for the Wolfpack's first two games for an unspecified violation of athletic department rules. Thornton ran for 907 yards and nine touchdowns last season.

EDISON, N.J. (AP) — Bubba Watson, Spencer Levin, Tony Finau and Camilo Villegas (kuh-MIHL'-oh vih-JAY'-guhs) start second round play at The Barclays tied for the lead at 5-under 65. Masters and U.S. Open champ Jordan Spieth (SPEETH) shot his worst competitive round in three months, shooting a 4-over 74.
