LAS VEGAS (AP) — Police say a 23-year-old officer has minor injuries after his SUV was hit by a tractor-trailer in a west Las Vegas intersection. The Las Vegas police department's Ford Explorer, though, suffered major damage.
Las Vegas police said Tuesday the unnamed officer was stopped at a red light heading south on Cimarron Road at Spring Mountain Road just before 10 a.m. when he drove into the intersection.
That's when police say the driver of a 2011 Peterbilt tractor-trailer heading east on Spring Mountain hit the Explorer sending it spinning into a 2008 Lexus also heading east.
Police say the tractor-trailer and Lexus had green lights.
Both the 57-year-old California woman driving the Lexus and the officer were treated and released for minor injuries at area hospitals. Police are investigating the collision.
